VANCOUVER—Webtech Wireless Inc., a provider of vehicle fleet location-based services (LBS) and telematics technology, has announced a distribution partnership with a Fortune 100 US wireless carrier. The $2.3-million agreement involves implementing a GPS/AVL fleet management solution with Maryland State Highway Administration (Maryland SHA) that will be powered by Webtech Wireless.

Through the agreement, Maryland SHA will deploy the Webtech Wireless’ GPS/AVL fleet management solution in over 2,300 vehicles, each with a multi-year subscription licence plan. The deployment includes a combination of both Maryland SHA and third-party contractor vehicles.

The solution will allow Maryland SHA to monitor snow plow material usage, manage highway contractors, and gain visibility into real-time location and vehicle activity.

In 2013, Maryland SHA launched a pilot program that involved deployment of Webtech Wireless’s solution in 15 vehicles. The success of the pilot program has resulted in the expansion of the GPS/AVL fleet management solution to include the entire winter fleet operation, the company said.

“We’re thrilled to have Maryland State Highway Administration join our growing family of government agencies using the Webtech Wireless solution,” said Webtech Wireless’s senior vice-president of sales & marketing, Pete Callaghan. “With this solution, Maryland State Highway Administration will be able to monitor state-owned and third-party vehicles; ultimately ensuring accurate material usage, maintaining accountability, and running an optimized fleet operation.”

Webtech Wireless provides a premium GPS/AVL fleet management software as a service (SaaS) solution. Delivered through a single platform across an entire fleet, the company said that the solution provides fleet intelligence that enables government agencies to improve transparency, accountability and efficiency while reducing liability.
