VANCOUVER: Two Vancouver fleet users, Novex Delivery Solutions and Modo The Car Co-op, have launched a partnership that will see Novex drivers using Modo cars to make deliveries.

“By using Modo vehicles to make deliveries, Novex is showing the world that carsharing works for many different transportation needs,” says Tanya Paz, Modo’s business development director. Modo already has more than 275 business members—organizations that carshare for work—including the City of Vancouver, with about 520 employees carsharing, but this is a first that puts couriers into carshare vehicles. “Novex reached out to us and we could see how serious they are about achieving their environmental goals and reducing their greenhouse gas emissions. We’re very proud of this partnership.”

Along with this partnership, Novex is launching its Guaranteed Green delivery option for its clients. Through this program, Novex guarantees that the delivery is made using sustainable transportation: bike courier, hybrid, electric, or green carshare vehicle. This program benefits both clients who are eco-conscious and Novex, which has pledged to reduce its carbon footprint by 70 percent by 2015.

“We’ve been eager to start offering our Guaranteed Green service and this strategic partnership with Modo is a key part of the program,” says Rob Safrata, CEO of Novex. “Our drivers can now choose to make deliveries by carsharing with Modo, saving them the burden of car ownership. And our clients will benefit from peace of mind, knowing their delivery is part of a sustainable transportation network.”

Modo is a not-for-profit co-operative with about 8,000 members sharing 250 vehicles in Metro Vancouver. Novex Delivery Solutions is a BC-owned and operated company, providing same-day delivery service in the Lower Mainland.
