CHARLOTTETOWN—The Government of Canada has announced the awarding of a $3.3‑million contract to design the renewal project for the Daniel J. MacDonald Building in downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
The contract was awarded to NORR Architects & Engineers Limited of Toronto, Ontario, and will include designing mechanical upgrades to the national headquarters for Veterans Affairs Canada.
“The renewal of the Daniel J. MacDonald Building represents a major re-investment by the Government of Canada in the province of Prince Edward Island,” said Carla Qualtrough, minister of public services and procurement. “The project will also benefit the environment by reducing the carbon footprint of the building through enhanced electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.”
The design work for the building renewal will begin immediately, with construction expected to start in January 2020 and be completed by fall 2023.
