Company awarded Device Manufacturer of the Year and Best Smartphone for smartphone
MISSISSAUGA: Samsung Electronics Canada has been awarded Device Manufacturer of the Year and Best Smartphone for the Samsung GALAXY S II by the GSMA, an organization representing the worldwide mobile communications industry and hosts of the Mobile World Congress trade show. The show was held in Barcelona from February 27 to March 1.
The awards acknowledge Samsung’s innovation in mobile handsets and its responsiveness to consumer tastes and preferences. The Best Smartphone award honoured the Samsung GALAXY S II, Samsung’s flagship smartphone. The GALAXY S II achieved worldwide sales of over 10 million units in five months, which is quicker than any device in Samsung’s history and surpassed over 20 million sales in 10 months.
“We are honored by this award and proud of how this device has changed the way the market and consumers experience mobile technology,” said Paul Brannen, vice-president, mobile communications at Samsung Canada. “We are thrilled to receive these honours from GSMA and believe that it’s a testament to Samsung’s innovation, quality products, and attention to consumer preferences.”
Most recently, the company released the Samsung Galaxy Note, which Samsung says is the first smartphone to feature a vivid 5.3″ display with Samsung’s new S Pen, a precise instrument that allows users to capture, create and share content and information in new ways.
