MISSISSAUGA, ON—Schneider Electric, a digital transformation of energy management and automation company, congratulates the Port of Montreal on its recent win of an environmental award based on its implementation of Schneider Electric’s Shore Power solution.

The Port of Montreal’s team won the Prix AQTr Environment Award at the recent Gala d’excellence de l’Association des transports du Quebec. The award, sponsored by the Quebec Transportation Association (AQTr), is given to Quebec projects that demonstrate a reduction in the environmental impacts of transportation.

Schneider Electric’s Shore Power solution contributed to the port’s reduction of 2,800 tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually. Shore Power allows docked vessels to connect to the electrical grid and shut down their diesel engines, reducing air pollution.

Based on Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure platform, an Internet of Things-enabled architecture, Shore Power allows ships to connect to the electrical grid. The standards-compliant solution relies on intelligent Schneider Electric devices, including substation automation relays and power monitoring instruments. Through Shore Power, ports can track a ship’s operational data and energy consumption, trace system performance and events, collect billing information and rely on a touchscreen for remote monitoring.
