OTTAWA: The Canadian Institute will be hosting its ninth-annual Advanced Guide to Public Procurement in Ottawa January 24 to 25. Procurement professionals from the industry, legal and government sectors will gather to share insights and provide solutions to delegates’ procurement challenges.

Lawyer Paul Emanuelli, drafting expert and managing director of The Procurement Office, will chair the event, participating in sessions and leading the full-day pre-conference master class on January 23. This session, Step-by-Step Guide to Drafting Solid Enforceable Procurement Documents, will provide delegates with drafting techniques to conform with plain language requirements. Other procurement topics at this event include:

  • Leveraging opportunities under key foreign trade agreements, particularly CET;
  • Best practices in clearing Canada-US, BuyAmerican, and domestic trade hurdle;
  • Case studies from Canada top-100 major infrastructure projects;
  • Deconstructing non-compliant exclusion clauses and implementing effective solutions to de-risk and insulate bid and evaluation practices against CITT review; and
  • Compliance with higher accountability standards under Ontario’s Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive.

The event takes place January 24 and 25 at the Sheraton in Ottawa.
