IQALUIT: Nunavut Sealink and Supply Inc (NSSI) has been selected by the Government of Nunavut to provide sealift services to 25 of the total 26 communities in the Qikiqtani, Kivalliq and Kitikmeot areas. The company said the long-term agreement is effective as of 2012 sealift season.

NSSI provides cargo services to all Nunavut communities, as well as mining and other projects. With the 2012 sealift operations underway, cargo carriage to all destinations will be for the most part loaded at the company dock facilities in Ste-Catherine, south of Montreal along the St Lawrence Seaway.

The company’s services will be maintained in collaboration with Churchill-based Nunavut Connections, said NSSI. The Kivalliq communities and their sealift users will continue to benefit from the Manitoba corridor sourcing option and from sealift service from Churchill, said NSSI, which now are included under the long-term agreement.
