BURLINGTON: Energy and sustainability management provider Energy Advantage Inc will help Morguard start and operate an energy and environmental data management solution for their Canadian commercial and retail properties.

According to Morguard, a commercial real estate firm, the company recognized the importance of establishing an energy and environmental data foundation to track and manage their portfolio’s carbon footprint, energy consumption, and other related environmental building data.

“We greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with one of Canada’s leading integrated real estate companies and help them bring their sustainability strategy to life,” says Chris Ridabock, president and COO, Energy Advantage Inc. “The real estate industry is a key focus area for our company and the opportunity to work with an industry leader like Morguard further reinforces our commitment to this important Canadian business sector.”

Energy Advantage’s data management solution will collect, track, analyze and report on Morguard’s portfolio-wide energy and environmental data in order to support building operations management and corporate information needs. The solution is complemented by Energy Advantage’s total energy use life cycle and related environmental expertise, including complex utility bill information, said Morguard.

“We were looking for a solution that was scalable, flexible and easily adaptable to our business and reporting structures”, says Neil Pegram, Morguard’s corporate sustainability & responsibility manager. “This solution not only has to track our carbon footprint and energy consumption at an individual property but at a regional and portfolio level. Energy Advantage’s data management solution provides this level of detail for us and, most importantly, is further enhanced by their overall expertise in energy and environmental management.”
