MILPITAS, CALIF: Public Works and the Government of Canada has awarded ABBYY, a provider of document recognition, document and data capture, linguistic technologies and professional services, with a software licensing supply arrangement (SLSA). Through the arrangement, ABBYY’s FineReader, FlexiCapture and Recognition Server solutions have been pre-qualified for use by all federal departments and agencies.

“Government departments and agencies are being pushed to meet growing service requirements while revenue inflows are shrinking,” said Dean Tang, CEO of ABBY USA. “Without a better way of managing information and data, this quickly becomes a losing battle. Our solutions help Government of Canada departments and agencies capture, translate and transform data into useful, digital information, enabling them to eliminate outdated manual paper and workflow operations while reducing overall costs.”

The arrangement provides a list of pre-qualified technologies in a variety of software and shared systems categories. Having completed the first phase, ABBYY’s award-winning OCR and data capture solutions are now listed in the SLSA catalogue, under the document scanning and image recognition software category.

Pre-qualified by the Government of Canada, ABBYY FineReader turns document scans, PDFs and digital photographs into searchable and editable digital formats. The Recognition Server automates document capture and conversion processes through a server-based OCR solution, improving business processes by making information more available across departments. ABBYY FlexiCapture provides a single entry point to automatically transform different forms and documents with complex fixed or unstructured data structure into business-ready data automatically, increasing efficiency and reducing employee time on data entry.
