OTTAWA—The professional services division of BluMetric Environmental Inc., an Ottawa-based cleantech company, has been awarded an extension and increase of scope for a large existing environmental engineering services contract for Vale Canada Limited, the new work to exceed C$2.5 million over two years.

BluMetric will conduct semi-annual monitoring and reporting for more than 1,000 groundwater monitoring wells in Sudbury, Shebandowan, and Port Colborne, Ontario. BluMetric will also create a fully graphical database package that will allow Vale Canada to manage all of its groundwater and surface-water data.  BluMetric will assist Vale with obtaining permits to take water, and with compliance monitoring and reporting required by permits to take water.

“This new contract emphasizes not only the stability of our long-time client relationships but the effectiveness of our expanding technology reach and service offering,” said Nell van Walsum, president of BluMetric’s professional services division. “We have been intent on building our skillsets in areas that are highlighted by client needs, and this demand-sensitive strategy has  been very effective for the Professional Services Division in this instance.”
