MARKHAM: American Express Canada has been selected as one of Canada’s Best Diversity employers in 2012. The award is presented annually by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.

American Express has operated as a Canadian business and employer since 1853, and features a workplace with a diverse group of over 3,700 employees, the company said. Bringing together people of different talents, perspectives and backgrounds has helped generate new ideas and provide an inclusive workplace.

“We are thrilled to have won this award,” said Jason Colley, head of HR at American Express Canada. “At American Express we consider diversity and inclusion a key business imperative and are committed to attracting, hiring and developing diverse talent worldwide.”

Canada’s Best Diversity Employers recognizes employers across Canada who exhibit outstanding workplace diversity and inclusiveness programs across five major employee groups: (a) women; (b) members of visible minorities; (c) persons with disabilities; (d) Aboriginal peoples; and (e) lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered/transsexual (LGBT) peoples.
