Mississauga: Samsung Electronics Canada has released its Series 9, a lightweight laptop computer. Samsung said the 13.3-inch Series 9 offers mobile professionals a laptop equally suited for work and entertainment.

“When designing the premium Series 9 laptop, Samsung wanted to offer an unforgettable PC experience that didn’t compromise on either style or functionality,” said Peter Grady, director of sales and marketing, IT division, Samsung Electronics Canada. “The Series 9 laptop successfully combines sleek styling reminiscent of a sports car, business-class performance and ease of use in an ultra thin and lightweight package.”

The Series 9 is made from Duralumin, which the company said offers construction quality twice as durable as aluminum while keeping the laptop under 3lbs. According to Samsung, the computer’s arch maximizes its ergonomic appeal to make it easier to use and fit comfortably in the grip.

The laptop has a LED-backlit screen that uses Samsung’s SuperBright Plus display with 400-nit brightness. Samsung also said the Series 9 features a 100,000:1 contrast ratio.

The 160-degree viewing angle gives users screen images from a variety of vantages, Samsung said. The laptop’s ambient light sensor adjusts the display brightness based on surrounding lighting conditions to reduce user eye strain. It also features an auto-adjusting backlit keyboard that adapts to darker light conditions.

The Series 9 uses second generation Intel Core i5 processor; Intel HD graphics, combined with the new processor, deliver crystal-clear visuals, vibrant colours and high-definition video and audio playback. The Series 9 uses Samsung’s new lithium polymer batteries and achieves up to 6.5 hours of battery life.
