REGINA—City council in Regina is expected to vote later this month on a recommendation to start looking for a company to build a new stadium for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The city’s executive committee voted Wednesday to recommend council spend up to $2.5 million to begin the procurement process for the complex.
The recommendation includes a call for a partnership with a firm to design, build and finance the $250-million facility, which would eliminate some of the financial risk for the city. Maintenance and operation of the 33,000-seat stadium would be carried out by Regina Exhibition Association Ltd, which has experience operating the city’s Brandt Centre and Co-operators Centre.
