James Johnson Jr has been appointed president of lighting solutions company Osram Sylvania Ltd and will oversee the company’s sales, operations and support. These areas include trade, retail and automotive lighting sales, as well as the Sylvania Lighting Services division. Johnson will be based in Mississauga.
“Jim’s demonstrated leadership skills and high achievement orientation make him uniquely qualified for this position,” said Rick Leaman, president and CEO of Osram Sylvania, Inc.
Johnson joined GTE Sylvania—Osram Sylvania’s predecessor—in 1985, eventually becoming vice-president of OEM marketing and sales in the automotive lighting division. He moved on to vice-president and general manager of the automotive lighting assemblies division. Johnson became president of Valeo Sylvania, a joint venture between Osram Sylvania and Valeo, in 1998. He was appointed executive vice-president and general manager for Global Automotive Lighting in 2001.
