MONTREAL: Canadian aerospace manufacturer Heroux-Devtek has won a contract to supply landing gear for a new business jet from French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation.
The Montreal-area manufacturer of aerospace and industrial products said it has been contracted to design, develop, fabricate, assemble and help win certification for the new landing gear system. The company would also provide spare parts.
Chief executive officer Gilles Labbe said he’s proud that Heroux-Devtek added a new customer that reinforces its strategy to expand its presence in the medium-sized aircraft market.
“It’s a recognition by another world leader that Heroux-Devtek can design, develop and build aircraft landing gear so it’s a great win for us,” he said.
The value of the contract will depend on how many planes are delivered during the program’s lifetime. But Labbe said it should be worth millions of dollars over the next 20 years.
The landing gear will be designed and manufactured in Heroux-Devtek’s existing Canadian facilities in Quebec and Ontario, Labbe said, noting it’s too soon to say how many workers will be hired during the manufacturing stage.
