Winnipeg, Man. – The Canadian Coalition for Good Governance has awarded its 2011 Governance Gavel Award.
The award goes out to the company who has the “Best disclosure of Governance Practices and Approach to Executive Compensation by Small- or Mid-Size Issuer.”
The company to win it was Manitoba Telecom Services Inc, who was recognized for its emphasis on clear and effective public disclosure and leading governance practices.
The public company says that last year its board and several committees completed a comprehensive review process that resulted in a revised compensation program for senior executives and a significantly enhanced proxy circular. This award, says the company, recognizes the work its team did.
MTS also says its shareholders will benefit from the company’s strong pay-for-performance compensation model, and looks forward to its first say-on-pay advisory vote at the next shareholders’ meeting.
