VICTORIA: The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads in Australia has certified Victoria, BC-based Carmanah Technologies’ Carmanah EG320 outdoor solar lighting system for roadway lighting across the state. The government has also selected Orion Solar—authorized Carmanah distributor of Australia—as preferred supplier. The selection follows the Queensland government’s installation of ten Carmanah EG320 solar LED outdoor lighting systems earlier this year.

“Orion is a long standing and important partner for us who has done an outstanding job penetrating the market with our technologies,” said Carmanah CEO Bruce Cousins.

The EG-series addresses the need for high performance and reliable off-grid lighting. The series eliminates the need to trench cable, the company said, a required cost of AC-powered lighting. Configured for the locations in which they are deployed, EG-series systems take advantage of optimal solar insolation values for their installed location, resulting in a smaller system and further lowered product cost.

Orion Solar, the Carmanah authorized distributor of solar-powered outdoor lighting, aviation, marine and traffic products, is an authority on the aviation, mining, marine, road and rail industries of the Australian market.
