Dust control systems, low sound help meet requirements for sustainable cleaning equipment certification
PLYMOUTH, MN: Commercial and industrial floor maintenance equipment manufacturer Advance now offers battery and electric burnishers that meet requirements for sustainable cleaning equipment, the company said.
Advance burnishers that contribute points to LEED-EBOM certification include the Advance Advolution 20BT battery burnisher and the Advance Advolution 20XP electric burnisher. According to Advance, the burnishers are available with active dust control and operate at sound levels less than 70 dBA, which are requirements under the LEED-EBOM program.
Burnishers with active dust control include a shroud and vacuum system that keeps dust from spreading during operation. The system also captures dust particulates in a sealed bag onboard the machine. Capturing dust during operation also eliminates the need to dust mop after burnishing hard-floor surfaces, Advance said.
The purchase of green cleaning equipment is a prerequisite to the Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) credit 3.4: Green Cleaning—Sustainable Cleaning Equipment of the LEED-EBOM rating system. Buffers and burnishers equipped with devices for capturing fine particulates and operate at sound levels of less than 70 dBA meet that requirement. LEED for Existing Buildings-Operations and Maintenance is a voluntary standard for defining, measuring and certifying the sustainability of an existing commercial building.
